DESCRIPTION:The second production of The Drama Group’s 89th season -TARTUFFE \nOpens December 6 at 7:30pm and runs thru December 15 \nWritten to coincide with the 2016 Presidential election\, this contemporary reworking of Moliere’s classic comedy and cautionary tale of frauds\, cheats\, scoundrels and interloper is set in the home of a wealthy businessman who’s duped into supporting the political campaign of an entirely unscrupulous charlatan. Over 350 years have passed since Moliere penned Tartuffe\, and yet it remains one of the most well-known and often-produced comedies in the Western canon. This is partly due to its potent afterlife—it’s ability to resonate with our present-day anxieties.

His bloody and battered body would not be discovered until the next day\, and he would die several days later in the hospital. His name was Matthew Shepard\, and he was the victim of this brutal assault because he was gay.
