SPECIAL EVENTS

This year our Festival of the Arts 2020 is taking a different approach.  Here is a list of some events presented by members of Southland Arts:

  • IPO – Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra is presenting “Symphonic Sounds for the Soul” – a FREE outdoor concert on Saturday, October 3 at 2:00pm in Park Forest “On the Green” – social distancing will be observed.
  • Tall Grass Arts Gallery is hosting Tall Grass Arts School Show beginning Saturday, October 3 thru 24; in Park Forest at 367 Artist Walk – featuring work from Life Drawing workshops, Pat Moore’s Mixed Media and Margi Hafer’s watercolor – Gallery hours Tuesday – Saturday  11am-4pm – Free to public, masks required.
  • SYSO – Benefit Concert is Live on Facebook on Sunday October 18th at 6pm;  facebook.com/SuburbanYouthSymphonyOrchestra or donate at suburbanyouthsymphony.org/support

  • Crete Creative is hosting MINDSCAPES, an exhibit by renowned French artist, Didier Nolet – now thru October 19, FREE to the public, masks required.
  • Homewood Arts Council is hosting a “Virtual Gallery” now thru November 1. Visit homewoodartscouncil.com
  • Crete Creative is hosting LOADED, an exhibit of paintings, drawings, mixed media collage by local Professor/Curator and artist, Jeff Stevenson – October 22 thru November 21, FREE to the public, masks required.
  • TheNate at Governors State University invites you to come a experience autumn at its best, nestled among the fields and trees surrounding the GSU campus is a collection of 30 master works of large-scale sculpture situated within 100 acres of prairie landscape.  Visit www.facebook.com/nathan.manilow.sculpture.park/ for times and directions.
    • The Drama Group is presenting VOICE OF THE PRAIRIE, limited availability in the Chicago Heights DG studio on Thursday, October 1st at 7:30pm and live -streamed on The Drama Group You Tube Channel.
